I just cleared Act 10 for the first time a few weeks ago because I was in a similar boat of "Well, we're not seeing a Diablo 4 this year, sooooooooooo may as well" and for the most part it wasn't a terrible experience. Thats all you really need, you can check snapshot of leveling my character here for some tips: inky At level 16 you get Herald of Agony and then pair it with Minion Damage. You get Quill Rain, 4 link it with all Green slots and at level 12 you get Toxic Rain, and then supports Onslaught, Mirrage Archer and Lesser Poison.

Its great build to start with and then respec to something different you find interesting. You can also use any class you want with this build. It feels amazing and is so powerful that you can get easily to end game with just it and random gear and do some low level end game content without even putting any damage nodes in your passive tree. I would also recommend at the beginning playing Toxic Rain + Herald of Agony build that needs only one low level unique Quill Rain. Its generally gear channel with a lot of great tips and good build guides. I would recommend watching this playlist, at least in parts, before starting: Once you get a hang of that it's really just putting everything together into a package you find fun to play, and it just so happens those packages are already out there and efficiently put together for you to pick.

While that structure is good to guide your initial journey as a new player, it can also be restrictive and could limit your impression of what you can actually do, or maybe the guide doesn't explain well enough how your build comes together once you get certain keystones because it assumes you already know, etc.īuilds develop at different rates, so for me it was key to just get the basics, understanding what skills go together well, how to manage flasks, how to read items, where everything is in the passive tree, etc.

People usually jump into following a build to a T without understanding how they are constructed. Don't be afraid of starting new characters either, in fact I would recommend it. There is a learning curve, but once you start applying what is in these videos and getting a hang of how each build grows you'll get hooked. You don't need to read the lore or rush areas, and the quest objectives are easy to follow. These are short videos (6-7min avg) that will introduce you to most things you want to know. It's over a year old but much of it should still apply (the channel has amazing content beyond starting guides too):

I would recommend checking out this playlist. It's a great community that does like to help, just ignore some of the typical toxic chat that can happen. Might even get a vet to donate some stuff and be there to answer questions. Also joining a fairly nice global community is helpful, I use /global 3 myself and ppl there can be decent with new players asking questions. This locked me in, maybe it can do the same for you. The only way I got around this was doing the above and trying to find a build I thought I'd like and followed how to build it. When I first played it, I hated the game because it was quite rough and I didn't understand shit. If you do this, just know that your first one or two characters will probably be pretty terrible because you simply don't know the proper way to build for the later game. There's a ton of actual video clips within it and it's very, very helpful. It's a great way to learn and a good way to have someone hold your hand through the rather rough beginning as it can be quite overwhelming.īut if you choose to just go at it completely on your own, which many do but then usually hit a wall around 50-60, USE the in-game help system. While this might seem like a bad way to play the game initially, learning how things work together is a key to understanding this game and the guides help explain that - to some degree. You'll learn pretty quick and most build guides offer decent info on how to level.

Start the game with that class and try to follow it a bit even though you don't really know much about what you're reading. My recommendation is to browse the official forums and look at various builds.
